For more than 50 years, the Crocker has proudly presented its Classical Concert series, featuring the finest musicians and singers from the Sacramento region and around the world. These educational performances are approximately 60 minutes with no intermission and draw inspiration from art on view at the Museum.  

Reason & Bietz, piano four hands  

Enjoy a piano four-hand performance illustrating the mosaic of styles and influences inherent in 20th-century American art and music. Featuring a selection of works written after 1945 by composers from across the United States, the concert mirrors the Crocker’s collection of contemporary work from the same time period. 

From the sweeping, rhapsodic gestures mixed with moments of calm heard in Ewazen’s Resplendent Quetzal and see reflected in the landscapes of Gregory Kondos, to the pervasive rhythm, jazz influence, and clear lines of Mellitt’s Postcards of Dreadlock echoed in the paintings of Alison Saar and Betye Saar.
