Student and Community Exhibitions

On the first floor of the historic building, visitors will find the Student & Community Gallery, a space dedicated to exhibitions organized by schools, community organizations, and statewide agencies. Exhibition organizers curate their own shows and work directly with the Crocker’s Education Department to execute them.

Over the next few months, visitors may enjoy the following exhibitions in the Student & Community Gallery:

Child’s Changing Consciousness Through Art

January 16 – March 23, 2025

Golden Valley Charter Schools’ students, from transitional kindergarten to eighth grade, showcase their creativity and exploration of artistic mediums including crafts, wet-on-wet painting, charcoal, graphite, and pastels. The artistic content originates from a rich Waldorf pedagogical curriculum that supports the unfolding capacities in children through polarities of line and curve; soft and bold; whole to part; large and small; the grayscale of values between light and dark; line and perspective; and tension between color combinations. These contrasting forces awaken in the children the soul qualities of thinking, feeling and willing. The exhibition, including collaborative works like the dragon heads, reflect their developmental journey through transformation and the ongoing readjustments towards balance in composition.
