Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15 including three public ceremonies.

Experience the exquisite, sacred beauty of Sand Mandala creation as the Crocker hosts the Tibetan Monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery in Mundgod, India, December 11 through 15, 2024. Their evolving artwork: Chenrezig, Buddha of Compassion, will be crafted live in the Museum’s ballroom. In addition to viewing active work during the Museum’s public hours, Museum visitors are invited to join one or more planned ceremonies. 

Active Work Hours
Wednesday, December 11 through Sunday, December 15 from 10 AM – 5 PM with extended hours until 9 PM on December 12.

Opening ceremony  
Wednesday, December 11, 1 PM  

Golden Nectar Ceremony and discussion  
Saturday, December 14, 1 PM 
Ceremony: 1 – 1:45 PM  
Q&A: 1:45 – 2:30 PM 

Experience the Golden Nectar Offering which invokes energy to overcome obstacles and protect from harm, fulfill wishes in this life, and guide attendees to stay on their spiritual path with compassion. The ceremony will last for 45 minutes and is followed by a Q and A session.  

Mandala completion and dissolution ceremony  
Sunday, December 15, 3:30 – 4 PM  

Celebrate the completion of the mandala with a final dissolution ceremony. Packets of sand will be presented to attendees and the remainder given to the Sacramento River. 

Ceremonial programs are free for members and free with admission for nonmembers.
