What happens when the floodplain is allowed to function? Fish return and flourish, ducks feed, a dynamic ecosystem repairs itself, and the Pacific Flyway inspires awe in anyone who looks up. [Placeholder: Flooding Fields] showcases the work of 25 seniors in the Sacramento State Photography BFA Program, graduate and undergraduate students at San Francisco State in Professor Lorena Molina's social practice art class, and alumni of Sac State Photo. Through field trips, diverse creative research, and collaborative dialogue, this group of artists has begun the process of connecting themselves to the land surrounding them and investigating the floodplain ecosystems and infrastructure of the Sacramento Valley.

The project is coordinated by Eliza Gregory, artist and Professor of Photography and Social Practice at Sacramento State University, with guidance from Carson Jeffres of the UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences, and John Brennan, rice farmer and land manager of Brennan, Jewett and Associates.
